I'm Overwhelmed x Too Many Hair Products
Issue 02

Online Shopping vs ULTA
feels like a lose | lose
Have you ever gone online to buy one hair product…and suddenly you’re three hours deep in reviews, ingredients, routines, and recommendations?
Shampoo for volume.
Shampoo for repair.
Conditioner for hydration.
Mask for strength.
Oil for shine.
Cream for curl.
Spray for texture.
Different routines. Different promises. Different opinions.
After a while it starts to feel like sensory overload and you ask yourself
"What the hell am I actually supposed to use?"
As a hairstylist, I see it all the time. People come in with screenshots, saved posts, or bags of products they’ve tried hoping one of them will finally be the thing that fixes their hair.
But here’s the real talk.
I’ve also been that person scrolling.
Even after years of doing hair.
Searching for the cream of the crop for my peeps.
Things Come Full Circle
I’ve been in this industry long enough to watch trends loop around.
The miracle ingredient.
The must-have product. The ten-step routine promising perfect hair.
Then five years later… we’re back to the same basics again.
Healthy hair.
Good ingredients.
Simple routines.
Hair care only gets complicated when companies start selling fantasy instead of reality.
My Own Bathroom Shelf

The longer I do hair, the simpler my own routine becomes.
Not because I care less about my hair.
Because I care more about honesty.
I don’t want twenty products promising the moon.
I want a few good tools that actually work.
That make me feel like im supporting my natural beauty and uniquness.
Why Cult + King
The first time I read the Cult + King manifesto, I remember thinking:
Oh… these guys are kind of like me.
They literally dropped the word “fuck” in the middle of it.

And I thought, finally… someone saying what a lot of us feel.
Less marketing fluff. Less perfection theater.
More honesty.
Their products are multi-functional, thoughtfully formulated, and designed to simplify routines instead of adding to the chaos.
Which felt like a breath of fresh air in an industry that sometimes loves to overcomplicate things.
Hair Should Feel Simple Again
Hair doesn’t need a 10-step routine.
Most of the time it just wants:
cleanse, condition, a litte love in its unique flow and texure and then
go live your beautiful fucking life:)
